Can I Get a Pat on the Back Please?

I have a horrible sense of direction, I really do. I lived in this one apartment complex and I got turned around almost every time I came out of an apartment for like the first 8 months I lived there. Yeah, its that bad. So the idea of navigating my way through public transportation in a foreign city, by myself, was a little intimidating. When I was dropped off at the Metro station this morning I was completely prepared to take the wrong Metro line or get on the wrong bus at some point in the day. But noooo I am more awesome then I thought, or Pragues public transportation is very user friendly... either way I conquered public transportation and there is nothing to stop me from exploring every nook and cranny of this city. So please be proud of my big success today, because I certainly am.

I spent half the day at the Castle again this morning finishing up things I didn't get to see in my half day yesterday. After about 4 1/2 hours at the Castle and trekking up the stairs twice (I forgot an exhibit) I was starved. I eat lunch at a cute little cafe by the Castle and enjoyed my ham and cheese baguette and this.

Chocolate crepes are soooo good. Sad thing is I couldn't even finish them! They were so rich, and this is the first sweet thing I have had since I came out here and it was like sugar overload. Totally crazy.  And let me just add that eating out by yourself is not nearly as awkward as I imagined it would be. I actually loved it. I sat back and got lost in my own thoughts, and I lovvve to do that. In fact traveling alone, so far, has been superb. I love being able to go as slow or fast as I want, just wander through the streets with nowhere in particular to go, being able to take all the time I want to take pictures and wait for people to get out of the way of my lense, and being able to soak it all it and really enjoy the small details. Its fantastic.

Anyway...after my scrumptious lunch I decided to walk across the famous Charles Bridge on my way to the Jewish Quarter. The bridge is beautiful but there were so many people on it it was hard to really enjoy it. I think I will have to come down to the city super early one morning so I can experience it in all its glory, alone.

Let me just say trying to get a good picture on the bridge is practically impossible with a mass of heads bobbing around the bottom of your viewfinder. Its nuts over there... so I walked over to the Jewish Quarters, and guess what today is a Jewish Holiday so everything to see over there is closed.! Super duper. So I sat down on the steps of the Rudolfinum Concert house, pulled out my handy travel book (thanks Keith!), and worked out a new plan. I ended up sitting on the steps for quite sometime just taking everything in. I don't know how to describe the atmosphere here, but I just want to soak it in! After soaking it all in, and letting my tired feet rest, I decided to just head over to old town and wander around with nothing in particular to see. I ended up seeing a lot of things and having a grand old time. Another successful day.
