Randomness

Today was interesting. Apparently heading into the center of Prague with absolutely no plans is not the smartest thing for me. Especially when its really hot with random patches of rain. I end up getting really distracted by things and get lazy.

I started off this morning later than usual, I decided I actually wanted to sleep in one day (who knew I would think staying into bed until 8 am was sleeping in). The weather looked overcast this morning (it's been rainy and pretty cool for the last 4 or 5 days) so I threw on some jeans. As I was getting ready, I had  my sliding door open and I realized how warm it was. Yep my face was already getting that nice sheen and I hadn't even left the house yet. So I had to find some shorts, but my legs were in no state for the public eye, so I had to bust out the razor.

I finally made it upstairs to eat some breakfast ( cookie crisps and yogurt yummmmy) and as I am eating, looking out over the city,  I watch the clouds get more and more ominous. As I am grabbing my stuff to leave, the clouds just open right on up and dump everything they have down on the streets below. Obviously not the best time to start the 15 minute walk down to the bus. I wait it out.

I can't really read the bus schedules... I can tell what bus I need to get on, but as far as when it comes, yeah I don't know. I just show up whenever and wait. It allows for some good reading time. Today I must have just missed the bus because I waited longer than usual. Joining me in my wait for the bus was a gaggle of children on a field trip. Kids are really interesting, even more so when they are with a bunch of their peers, and when you can't understand a word they are saying. They also make super packed buses smell reallllly good. Good thing people started cracking windows...

The supply of batteries I had not last as long as I had hoped, due to the incredible amounts of energy my camera expels to take a picture. So I had to make a stop at Tesco  on my way in. Tesco is a big grocery/clothes store- it kind of reminded me of a super Walmart or Target. It was pretty large and trying to navigate that place was a little tricky due to my lack of Czech reading skills. But cool thing- they have a ramp escalator so you can take your cart to the different levels of the store. I thought that was pretty sweet. Not cool thing- the crazy traffic jams you get at grocery stores when people are done checking out and leaving, spilling over into the mall (yeah, thats right theres a grocery store in the mall). Shopping carts were everywhere. It was a little nutso. So anyway I  finally found someone who spoke english, after striking out with about 3 people before, and was pointed to another store for rechargeable batteries. I hadn't planned on exploring the mall at all, but since I had to go find the other store I decided I had better take a look around. As soon as I stepped off the escalator I was greeted by H&M, and at that point, I wasn't sure if I'd actually make it into the city at all. It was glorious, but I practiced self control and only walked out with a couple things.

When I actually made it to the city, I didn't know where to go. I've seen all the big things that I just had to see, and now there are little random things throughout the city. So I just walked around. It was hot though, and carrying around my shopping bag was annoying. After a couple hours I ended up laying under a tree reading, until it started to rain.

It was a good day but not at all what I expected. Although I don't know what I expected...
