Bern is a very small village that only takes about a half day to see, but it is so charming in all its quaintness, and it's so picturesque. Definitely a fun little place to roam around in for awhile. I stayed outside the city in Turgi, a tiny tiny village, for a couple nights with one of Deanna's friends (thanks again for the hookup D!), it was a fun weekend.
Highlights of weekend in and Around Bern
-Wandering around a small village that feels like it hasn't been impacted very much by tourism
- The incredibly beautiful water. I still can't get over the color
- Having a super awesome host and travel buddy for the weekend
- Eating chicken hearts, which were amazingly delicious
-Being able to go to church finally and meeting so many wonderfully nice people
-Listening to a talk in German and being able to figure out some of what they were talking about. I impress even myself sometimes
- Discussing literature and getting a list of Czech authors and books I need to read
- Discovering Haribo gummy bears. Yeah, they pretty much rock
- Going to dinner at a couples house after church and having a feast
-Making smores in the oven
-Discovering the Czech tradition of Name day. Another reason to shower me with presents, yes please! Be ready on November 25th
- Wandering through a flea market and laughing at the randomness of it all- small tires, saftey cards from planes, a ton of Pat Benatar Records, vintage telephone, a compass that had to of weighed almost 3 lbs...
-Seeing a sign for Bryan Adams in concert and then finding out it was a sold out show. What...
-Eating yummy pretzels
-Meeting a crazy polish guy with the greatest laugh ever
- Taking a little trail to a lookout point, only to find it looks out over the train station. Pretty awesome view for some people, not so much for me
- Walking through the water jets/fountain that go off randomly, in the town square
- BBQing with a totally awesome and hilarious international group of people(Polish, Czech, Lebanese, Paraguayan)
-Being reminded of how blessed I am to live in the United States
-Walking the Bern temple grounds
awesome temple. I kind of can't handle how beautiful these pictures are, especially the color of that water!!! And straight out of the camera too!
