Every city has a feel, a vibe that emanates not only from people or certain buildings, but from the city as a whole. Krakow emanated a sense of ease, comfort and closeness- it was like visiting an old friend. From the minute I stepped off onto the train platform till the time I returned there 2 days later, my bond with my old friend Krakow grew and grew. I was not ready to leave this city behind after such a marvelous, but quick, stay.
I spent a lot of time wandering the streets and enjoying the two most popular areas of the city- the Jewish Quarter and Old Town. I decided not to spend any money on admittance to places as there was so much to see just by wandering the streets. There were many old churches, beautiful parks that wrapped around the main market square, a castle, delicious food at charming cafes, and tons of quaint and charming buildings. Unfortunately my camera has not learned to love me yet, and decided to throw quite the tantrum and delete the first 175 pictures I took on the trip- which is when I spent most of the time wandering the city (about 6 hours). I did have a few hours the next day to spend in the city after my morning excursion, so not all was not lost.
