Lovely Lucerne

I love Lucerne. Absolutely love it. This city is by far one of my favorite places from the trip. It's a beautiful city and all around Lucerne are little villages scattered along the lakes edge. I have never wanted to pack up and move somewhere so badly before. I could definitely live in a little cottage on the lake and look out at the gorgeous blue water all day.

Memorable Moments in Lucerne
-Walking to the hostel in a thunder storm, in my shorts with my cardigan draped over my head. I looked awesome
- Cable car ride to Mt Rigi
- Having a bird divebomb my face in attempt to eat the sandwich I was enjoying. I guess it could tell how tasty it was
- Talking to the garbage man from Angola and having him tell me he has his teaching degree but he makes more money picking up trash. Right...
- Watching the hills gradually turn into majestic mountains on the train ride from Salzburg
-Watching a huge swan walk right into a restaurant.
-Getting free chocolates when I checked into my hostel because I am 'a true backpacker' and don't make reservations. Glad someone thinks my lack of planning is worth rewarding
- Hug Bakery. Amazing pastries, and cake...I couldn't just get one thing, I mean seriously
- The massive Lion carved into the side of a huge rock. So beautiful
- Looking at old pictures of people exploring the Alps and the equipment they used. Those people were ballsy
- Discovering the most amazing muffins ever at COOP. Divine
- Walking across the bridge by the water tower
- Spending 5 1/2 hours on the lake and having my face practically fried off by the sun
- Enjoying a day of sunshine as I traveled across the lake, watching the mountain formations change
- Almost getting locked in the Glacier Gardens Museum
-Getting on the wrong train from Mt Rigi, and realizing it at the same moment as some other people discovered they had made the same mistake

  1. That picture of the lake with the palm tree in it - I've been there :) And the bridge with all the flowers and the lion...so beautiful! You are such an adventurous girl Katherine - I'm so proud of you for taking full advantage of this trip!
